A prominent activist of GotaGoGama, the occupying protest site in Colombo was arrested on 20th June, while he was returning after attending a protest organized by student activists and others. The protest was held in front of the Ministry of Finance building in Colombo, demanding the resignation of the President. Video footage shared on social media showed how the Police dragged him away. Salinda who has not resigned from his job as a military soldier was later arrested, and charged for not reporting to duty without prior notification.
