On 16th February 2023, Chief of the Government Printing Gangani Liyanage speaking to
media said the main reason for delaying the printing of the postal ballot papers is insufficient
Police security. On 13th February Liyanage sent a letter to the Election Commission requesting
necessary funds to be allocated for printing the ballot papers, while also noting on the
government's recent decision to curtail the government expenditures.
