Police arrested the head of the Association of Relatives of the Disappeared, Kasipillai
Jayavanitha, for allegedly illegally obtaining electricity for the shed they used as the base for
their six-year-long protest. The Secretary of the association, K. Rajkumar speaking to the
media said that they have been protesting for the last 2,210 days at this shed, and the
electricity was provided by the electricity board, and even electricity board workers have visited
there to repair the lamps in the hut. He denied the accusation that they were getting the
electricity illegally and said the arrest is unacceptable and an attempt to intimidate them.
