The Inter University Student Federation has organised a protest based on repression that is occurring in universities, releasing the arrested University of Kelaniya, student union chairperson Kelum Mudanuayaka and student activist Dilshan Harshana. he protest commenced at Lipton’s Circus, Colombo on 03rd April and they have planned to move forward from Lipton Circus to the University Grant Commission. When the IUSF protest marched forward to the University Grant Commission police used water cannons and fired tear gas to disperse the protest. The Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka issued a press release and said that they had initiated a self-intervention inquiry about the dispersing of the IUSF protest based on the reports published on social media and electronic media. Further they have informed the Inspector General of Police to submit a report before 10th April 2023.
