Aliyar Rahuman, a Muslim female candidate of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP), had reportedly been assaulted in Eravur,Batticaloa district by a United National Party (UNP) candidate, when she was canvassing in the area, according to the Campaign for Free and Fair Elections (CaFFE). CaFFE Executive Director, Rajith Keerthi Tennakoon said female candidates had experienced trouble in Batticaloa since the beginning of the campaign
