Mawbima Editorial Director and senior journalist
Sisira Paranathanthri has lodged a Police complaint
regarding a telephone call he had received,
threatening him and his fellow journalist Shiran
Rupasinghe, by the Secretary to the State Minister of
Public Security Sarath Weerasekara for publishing a
news in the Mawbima newspaper stating that
police have been involved in demolishing shops in
Maharagama town, for developmental activities.
When Free Media Movement contacted Mawbima
editor Bennett Rupasinghe, he admitted that a
complaint had been lodged and declined to
comment further. The compainents have laer
decided not to proceed with the complaint based on
a mutual agreement.
