Journalist Tharindu Jayawardhna and other journalists who were reporting on the damages that happened due to the protest in Mirihana were obstructed by a person who claimed to be a Director of the President's Media Division. On 1st April 2022, a person self identified as Nuwan Tharaka, a director of the President’s Media Division threatened the journalists videoing and photographing the site where the protest held previous night and asked to leave the site. The journalist Tharidhu Jaywardhna made a complaint at the Mirihana Police Station and to the Inspector General of Police (IGP).
