Students of University of Peradeniya despite the curfew and emergency law have organised a protest demanding solutions to the current economic crisis and other issues such as not paying Mahapola scholarship to the students on time. University students accompanied their university lecturers and marched the protest from university to the Kandy town. By the Galaha junction police have obstructed the protest by setting up the barricades. When students started to push off the barricades, a tense situation arose and police started to fire tear gas and water at the protestors. Following the tense situation students sat down on the road as a mark of protest. Peradeniya Teaching Hospital staff also joined and supported the protest.
