On 04tth April, police used tear gas to disperse the protest in front of the Prime Minister’s Carlton residence in Tangalle. The police also used roadblocks to prevent protestors from reaching Carlton residence. The roadblocks were set up by the police blocking the Colombo - Kataragama main road. There was a tense situation as the protestors tried to break through the roadblocks to enter the Carlton house and then police fired tear gas. Carlton house is where the current president Gotabaya Rajapaksha and his brother current Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksha were born.
