Former Olympian and Asian Games Gold medallist Sugath Thilakaratne, who is currently an employee in the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation received verbal threats from a group of employees of the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation after he attended the anti government protest. He lodged a complaint at Wellampitiya police station regarding the incident on 9th April 2022. Police have recorded the statements from the Ceylon Petroleum employees who allegedly threatened Thilakarathna. Thilakarathna further stated that this group of people has threatened him to not raise his voice against the Government and not to involve the ‘Go Home Gota’ campaign. He claimed that those who threatened him constitute supporters of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna
