Sujeepan Sebamalai a Tamil fisherman who is also an Activist for rights of northern fishermen was reported that his fishing boat have been set on fire on 21st July at mulliyan in Kaddaikkaadu in Vadamaraadchi East of Jaffna. He got a loss of about Rs.400,000. As Sujeepan leading protests against cucumber poaching scheme, it showed negative affect on fishermens livelihood and the fishing ecosystem
