Description

Colombo Magistrate Thilana Gamage issued a travel ban against six prominent activists who have been involved in the Galle Face protest site on 25thJuly 2022. The order was issued against (1) Inter-University Student Federation Convenor, Wasantha Mudalige, (2) the National Organizer of Youth Change,, Lahiru Weerasekara, (3) Ceylon Teachers Union Leader Joseph Stalin, (4) National Organiser of the Socialist Youth Union (SYU), Eranga Gunasekara, (5) Rev. Fr. Jeevantha Peries and (6) another activist named Rangana Lakmal, for their alleged involvement in an unlawful assembly opposite to the police headquarters on 11th July 2022, based on a request made by the Colombo Crime Division of Police to the Magistrate court, claiming that investigations are underway against them.
