Civil society activist Chinthaka Rajapaksha was arrested while he was returning home after attending the Inter University Student Federation (IUSF) organised Protest on 18ht August 2022. He was arrested for speaking to the media when the President’s house was occupied by the protesters in July. Chinthaka Rajapaksha is the Moderator of the Movement for National Land and Agriculture Reform (MONLAR), On 19th August Chinthaka Rajapaksha and other arrested protesters appeared before Colombo Magistrate. He was remanded until August 26th 2022. On 26th August, Magistrate granted him bail following a remote hearing.
