YouTuber running the SL Deshaya YouTube Channel Dharshana Hadungoda was arrested
by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of Police on 5ht February, at the Bandaranaike
International Airport, upon arrival from Dubai. He had been arrested on the charge of allegedly
failing to record a statement with the CID regarding a video he had shared in social media for
allegedly promoting the violence during the public unrest which occurred during May 9th. He
was released on the 6th February after appearing before the Colombo Fort Magistrate Thilina
Gamage. Next hearing of the case will be held on 17th February 2023.
