Description

On 7th of May 2018, 2 Tamils have been left ignored by authorities for 5 hours to lodge a complaint relating to sexual harassment and racial hatred. The incident happened on a train bound to Jaffna, when a Tamil woman was sexually harassed by Jayanath Perera, a train ticket inspector; meanwhile, Uthavarasa Shalin, a Tamil journalist was racially abused (i.e. Physical attack and verbal assault were involved) by the offender when he spoke up for the victim. In the end, the police were only able to handle their complaints after issues were brought up to Minister Mano Ganesan.
