Description
The police have requested from the Colombo Magistrate Court an order against the staged protest conducted opposite to the PM’s official residence- Temple Trees on 25th April 2022. Speaking at the Colombo magistrate court, the police claimed that the protestors' demonstration is inconvenient to the free movement of the public. The Additional Magistrate denied the request of the police saying that if the protestors were behaving in a manner causing public nuisance, police already have the powers to take necessary actions. Also the magistrate pointed out that order couldn't be issued without naming specific protesters.
