On 02nd April 2022, the Social media activist and Administrator of the Facebook page “Go Home Gota” was initially abducted at his home in Gampola in Kandy District of Central province and later it was informed that he has been arrested by the Modara Police in Colombo District of Western Province. He was abducted by a group of men who claimed that they were police. After the Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka intervened, the Crimes Division of the Modara Police had confirmed that Anuruddha Bandara was in their custody. Police have informed that he will be charged under section 120 of the Sri Lankan Penal Code, which makes it an offence to incite or attempt to incite feelings of disaffection to the State. Anuradha was granted bail on the next day.
