Description
On 14th April 2022 Police sergeant, W. M. Amaradasa who came to the protest area at Galleface in Colombo, joined the anti-government protest while wearing his official uniform. Fort Police in Colombo arrested him alleging that attending the protest in uniform was an offence. He was produced before the court on 15th April 2022 and granted bail. On 14th April 2022, Sri Lanka police announced that they will take necessary disciplinary and legal actions against the Police officer. W. M. Amaradasa who had joined the Sri Lanka Police in 1989, had been stationed at the Siripagama Police Station under special duties when the incident occurredNews Source Link
