Court order prevents protesters from entering the Fort police area.

Description
A demonstration was staged near Fort Railway station on 22nd February by the employees of
banking, health, ports, power and energy sectors demanding the revision of the government’s
tax policy. The Fort Magistrate court issued an order preventing the group of protesters from
engaging in demonstrations from 1pm to 5pm in the Fort Police division, on a request made
by the Colombo Fort Police, claiming that they have received information that the protesters
were planning to march along several roads in Fort area and attempting to enter the
President’s Office. Hence, the Magistrate ordered the protesters not to block the roads causing
inconvenience to the public and also ordered them not to enter the President’s Office,
President’s House, Finance Ministry and Galle Face and not to cause any damages to the
public properties.
