Several photojournalists and cameramen were reported to have been attacked at the Colombo FortMagistrate Court premises while covering Chief Defense Staff (CDS) Ravindra Wijegunarathne’s
appearance before the court on 28th of November. The CDS was accused of protecting Navy officerPrasad Hettiarachchi alias Navy Sampath who is an accused for disappearance of 11 youths. The
journalists and cameramen were suddenly attacked by several men who arrived on motorcycles. Later,
they have been identified as civil clothes body guards of CDS and one of them had been arrested by
the police. However, he has been released after a warning.
