Farmers around the Pulumude area have protested against the installation of Buddhist statues in farming land in the area. Few Buddhist monks, officers of the Archeology Department and some security officials have attended the scene. The video footage shows that a private bodyguard carrying a gun who accompanied a buddhist monk has threatened the protesters. This incident took place on 2nd April 2023. Later it was found that the threatened bodyguard belonged to the ministerial Security Division (MSD) Sri lanka.
