IBC Tamil Journalist Lakshaman Devapatheeran was subjected to a physical attack by a group of SLPP supporters led by State Minister S Viyalendiran, while Devapatheeran was covering the demolition of a bus station on 26th Feb 2022. When he was covering the incident, a group of SLPP supporters who arrived there approached him, threatened and assaulted him for attempting to video record the conversation.
