On the 13th of June, Social media-based journalist and activist Parasad Welikubura was summoned to the social media unit of the Computer Crimes Division of Sri Lanka Police. He was questioned regarding a video he had tweeted in February 2023, in which several people were shouting at military vehicles, saying “the government has money to spend on these things, but cannot afford to pay for the medicine in government hospitals.” Police had questioned him how he received the video, why he published it as it allegedly creates negative attitudes towards the military among the public
