On 1st of June, National People’s Power (NPP), a leftist political party organised a protest in front of the National Election Commission demanding to hold the Local Government Election, which has been delayed for over one and half years. The Police obtained a court order banning 26 persons including NPP Leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake from holding any protests in the entire area surrounding the Election Commission office including Sri Jayawardenapura Kotte Road, Cotta Road, Nawala Road, Sarana Road, and the roads leading to the National Election Commission in Rajagiriya.
